Overlook formally dedicated newly reconfigured and enhanced space in its front lobby as the Stacy and Valerie Goldstein Welcome Pavilion at a recent ceremony that brought together Overlook team members and supporters of the hospital.

The new pavilion features a relocated front desk and new seating area to optimize the flow of incoming patients and visitors to Overlook, among other improvements to stairs and hallways leading from the main entrance. The welcome pavilion is named for the late Stacy and Valerie Goldstein, daughters of Ed and Sue Goldstein.

“Ed and Sue envisioned a space that would welcome patients and loved ones to the hospital – a comforting experience no matter how stressful a time they faced in their health care journey,” said Overlook President Stephanie Schwartz.

The couple has led other charitable endeavors in their daughters’ memories, most notably the Valerie Fund, which supports specialized centers to treat pediatric patients for cancer and blood disorders. The first Valerie Fund Children’s Center was established at Overlook in 1977.

Earlier this year, through the couple’s contributions, Overlook kicked off enhancements to breast care at the dedication of the Stacy Goldstein Breast Center at Overlook. Subsequently, they also established the Suzann and Ed Goldstein Breast Cancer Patient Support Fund to offset financial hardships for patients in need.

“There can be no doubt that Ed and Sue live a life worthwhile,” commented Overlook Chief Philanthropy Officer Clelia Biamonti. “Over many years, they have helped us create serene and special spaces for our patients and their families to receive outstanding clinical care.”
