In the spirit of a Venetian masquerade ball, the Overlook Foundation hosted a gala evening at Liberty Science Center on October 29th. Some 400 guests enjoyed a Magical Masquerade in support of Overlook’s Emergency Department (ED).
Mind teasing mentalists, colorfully costumed performers and masterful magicians entertained guests as they sipped smoking cocktails and experienced the many fascinating exhibits at Liberty Science Center, along with spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline. Signature sponsor Neiman Marcus Short Hills added sparkle to the evening with its glamorous evening gowns displayed throughout the ballroom. Neiman Marcus Magical Mystery boxes were sold to 100 guests, who went home with a fabulous jeweled picture frame by Jay Strongwater, who also designed an exquisite Grand Floral Chest, worth nearly $10,000, that went home with one lucky winner.
Culminating their 100th Anniversary year, Overlook’s Women’s Auxiliary was recognized for their invaluable contributions and countless hours of service to the hospital. Later, Lenox Underground took the stage and the dance floor overflowed with guests rocking the night away. Through their Foundation, this legendary Summit-based band supports music education for children in Summit and surrounding areas.
With the help of the Reeves Foundation Challenge Grant, nearly $400,000 was raised for the renovation of Overlook’s ED. An expedited care unit has already opened, and a redesign of the pediatric area is currently underway. In the spring, construction will begin on a new area dedicated exclusively for behavioral health patients in the ED.
Our heartfelt thanks to our guests and our community for their generous response to the Campaign for Emergency Services at Overlook!
