Sunny skies and perfect temperatures greeted the enthusiastic field of golfers who converged on Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit on June 13th to take part in the Overlook Foundation Golf Tournament. Now in its 26th year and sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the event raised some $140,000 to benefit Emergency Services at Overlook.
More than 180 golfers came early to hit some balls at the driving range and do some pre-round stretching with Overlook physical therapists before settling in for a buffet lunch on the club’s patio. Then it was on to one of Canoe Brook’s two renowned championship courses, where several luxury automobiles awaited any lucky golfer who managed to sink a hole-in-one. That evening, at the awards dinner, attendees bid on a number of tempting silent auction packages that included vacations and rounds of golf at some of the area’s most prestigious courses.
A generous lineup of golf prizes was awarded to the top 20 foursomes with the lowest net scores, as well as individuals with the longest drive and closest to the pin. Top-finishing foursomes on the North and South courses respectively were: Jim Gardner, MD, Rick Luciani, MD, Andy Kaufman, MD, and Mike Nolan; and Matt Rosenbaum, Steve Scheichet, Michael Duffy, and Glenn Stummer. In addition, the Anthony F. Coppola, MD Memorial Award was presented to Jonathan Kessler for the lowest individual gross score.
